FACILITIES
Wabtec Rail’s bogie and wheelset overhaul shops are equipped with the most up to date plant and machinery including a Hegenscheidt PM190 CNC controlled wheelset gauging and machining centre. The PM190 undertakes a pre-machining inspection and gauging of the wheelset prior to reprofiling or rewheeling, so maximising wheelset life.
Our wheelshop is also equipped with CNC controlled axle lathes, vertical borers, wheel presses, wheelset balancing machines, axle UAT, MPI and eddy current testing plant.
All finished wheelsets and bogies can be repainted at our specialist painting booths using the latest surface coating technologies.
SPECIFICATIONS
Our wheelset and bogie overhaul activities are supported
by our in-house teams of experienced engineers. Located
at our Doncaster Works, engineers are able to develop and
produce bogie and wheelset overhaul and repair
procedures and specifications and arrange for their
certification.
Wabtec Rail’s engineers are able to offer to our customers
the analysis and development of specifications such that
ongoing life cycle costs are reduced through reduced
overhaul costs, extended overhaul periodicies and increased
reliability.
FLEET MANAGEMENT
Wabtec Rail can provide a total bogie and wheelset

bogies and wheelsets, carrying out their overhaul and
repair and managing the collection and redelivery of the bogies to the train maintainer’s facility.
TOTAL CAPABILITY
Whatever the assignment, our wheelset and bogie
customers enjoy a service that draws on an exceptionally
wide range of expertise – repair, maintenance and overhaul
of locomotives, passenger rolling stock (including
refurbishment programmes), air conditioning, door
systems and components of all types.
